A pseudocarp is a false fruit that arises from an abominable flower and is not develops from the ovary; it is a syncarp (true fruit) that is made up of parts not derived from the ovary, such as the receptacle or other floral parts. Pseudocarps are commonly found in dicotyledonous plants. For example, the edible part of a fig is a pseudocarp.
